Dalrymple bets on NDSU game

BISMARCK–It’s the battle of pasta vs. grapefruit in the latest political wagering over this Saturday’s NDSU football game in Texas.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple has made a food bet with Texas Gov. Rick Perry over the title game between North Dakota State University and Sam Houston State.

Dalrymple has wagered a case of North Dakota-made Dreamfields low-carb pasta that the Bison will win the national championship, a news release from his office said. Perry will send Dalrymple a box of south Texas grapefruit if the Sam Houston State Bearkats lose to NDSU.

“Gov. Perry tells me that his Texas grapefruit are delicious, and I’m sure that a Bison victory over the Bearkats will make them even sweeter,” Dalrymple said in a statement.

“Congratulations to North Dakota State on a fine season, but I’m afraid an FCS Championship just isn’t in the cards for the Bison,” Perry said in a statement.  “That trophy will be heading to Huntsville, as the Bearkats close out an undefeated season and add their own names to the long list of champions hailing from the Lone Star State.”

The game begins at noon Saturday in Frisco, Texas, and will be televised on ESPN2.
