  2. I enlisted in the US Navy on June 6, 1944 in Bismarck. I took my boot training at Faragut, ID and ended up on the island of Pelelieu. I returned to ND in June 1946 and attended Bismarck Junior College for two years on the Veterans GI Bill. I finished my education at Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University) in Stillwater, OK. I was a member of the first Honors Flight from Oklahoma in May 2010. I have lived in the Oklahoma City area since 1952. Two good friends of mine (brothers Victor and Vernon Lemke of Bismarck and Rapid City, SD respectivley) were on the Rough Riders Honors Flight May 6 & 7 2011.
