Public Service Commissioner Tony Clark says he’s stepping down as North Dakota’s Republican Party chairman.
Clark said Tuesday that he said from the beginning the position was temporary for him. Clark took over the position when former chairman Gary Emineth resigned this summer.
Clark said the party’s big wins on Election Day didn’t change his mind about stepping down. Next week, he’ll have new duties as the president of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.
As for North Dakota’s next chairman, Clark said anyone interested should put their name forward. A replacement will likely be named next month.
