Williston housing news

A new subdivision in Williston will provide housing for about 250 families.

Officials celebrated the groundbreaking today of the Granite Peak Subdivision, which includes land for 84 single-family homes, 84 twin homes and a 100+ unit apartment complex, according to a news release.

“We appreciate working with the Granite Peak team and the city of Williston through our state agencies to help build quality housing for the community,” Gov John Hoeven said in a statement.

“We’re pleased to have a developer with as much experience as Granite Peak invest in our community,” Williston Mayor Ward Koeser said in the statement.  “This will really help us address the tremendous housing shortage that we are experiencing.”

Granite Peak Development LLC is a real estate developer in Casper and Cheyenne, Wyo.

“Granite Peak Development is pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of the Williston community,” Granite Peak finance director Dan Guertmann said in a statement. “We are looking forward to a long and productive relationship with the city in meeting the current and future needs of Williston.”

“We hope our experience and Williston’s desire to plan for parks, schools and community needs will continue to make Williston a great place to live,” Neil McMurry, principal in Granite Peak Development, said in a statement. “We are impressed with the support Williston has received from the governor and state officials to meet the needs of Williston.”

North Dakota Operations Manager Terry Metzler said the first families will be able to move in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The project is expected to be complete by late spring or mid-summer 2011.
